Choose your course and apply for Admission

After you choose your course, send us the completed student application form along with: certified copies of academic documents, English language documents, Proof of Identity - passport to [email protected] or your agent.

Application Assessment

Once your application is received, we will assess it to check whether you meet the English language and academic entry requirements for your chosen course programme.

Letter of Offer

If the application for the course is approved, we will send you a letter of Offer. It will include course start dates, payment details, airport arrival and accommodation information etc.

Tuition Fee Payment

Your Fee payment details are included in your letter of Offer. Please ensure you have read and understood the Australian Academy refund policy before making your tuition fee payment to Australian Academy.

Apply for a Student visa

Once your fee payment is received, we will issue you with a fee receipt to support your student visa application. More information on student visa requirements at: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Stud

Planning for arrival to Australia

Plan to arrive in Australia and at Australian Academy in time to attend the International Student Orientation session. Once you have booked your flights, organize airport pick up and your accommodation at least 14 working days before you arrive.

Australian Academy Orientation Programme

You will be required to join other international students for the Australian Academy Orientation programme, finalise your enrolment process and commence your course studies.

Requirements

Entry requirements

Age requirement

To study at Australian Academy, all international students must be at least 18 years of age or above when the course starts.

Academic requirements

VOCATIONAL COURSES: There is a minimum academic requirement for admission to Australian Academy. This must be met by all international students. This is based on the completion of a course of study that is equivalent to the Australian Year 12 level education. This is the minimum level of entry.

Other English language proficiencies accepted by Australian Academy:
  1. Evidence that, within the two years before applying for a student visa, you completed (in Australia and in the English language) either the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, or a substantial component of a course leading to a qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework at the Certificate IV or higher level. This must have been while you held a student visa.
  2. Evidence that you have completed at least five years’ study in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
  3. You are a citizen and hold a passport from the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland.
  4. For students from Low Risk Level countries, successful completion of the Australian Academy Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test.

English requirements

International students at Australian Academy are expected to provide evidence of English language proficiency. Students must have a minimum score of an internationally recognised English test. Listed below are the acceptable English language test scores:

VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS: An IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) score of 5.5 overall is required for most vocational courses. No band/sub score may be under 5.0. Other equivalent English language tests are also accepted by the Department of Immigration.

Course credits

Credits, recognition of prior learning (RPL) and mutual recognition

Australian Academy offers students the opportunity to transfer the value of your pre-existing skills and qualifications. You can use Credit Transfer, Recognition of Prior Learning, Mutual Recognition or Course Credit processes.

Course credit

Skills that you have already gained during previous programs of study are also valued as Course Credit. It will be granted to students who can provide a Qualifications and Statements of Attainment from other education provisions that conduct Australian Nationally Recognized Training Courses. Students who apply for Course Credit using other evidence of competency will also be considered. In either case, these evidenciary documents must be presented before enrollment on the course. In some cases, the duration of student visa may be shortened due to the awarding of Course Credit.

Credit transfer

If you have previously completed study elsewhere, you can receive Credit Transfer. You must be enrolled in a relevant programme and will be offered this process if you are able to provide Australian Academy with certified copies of the relevant qualifications, Statement of Results, Statement of Attainment. A Credit Transfer Application Form must also be completed. For further information visit Credit Transfer Policy.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Your current skills and experience is also values as RPL. Regardless of where this learning took place, you can provide information of either formal or informal training experiences to offer proof of this prior learning. Please visit RPL Policy and Procedure for more information.

Mutual recognition

If you can present a Statement of Attainment from another Registered Training Organisation to show you have already completed units of competency you will be granted Mutual Recognition. Copies of qualifications must also be provided as well as the application form.

Appeals to credits, recognition of prior learning (RPL) and mutual recognition assessments

If the student is not satisfied with the outcome of the assessment then they can access the college’s complaints and appeals process. (Please visit Australian Academy Complaint and Appeal Policy)

Australia’s consumer protection law

This policy and the availability of complaints and appeals processes does not remove the right of a student to take further action under Australia’s Consumer Protection Law.
